Counselling and group work for depression, stress and anxiety in Sussex

02 FebA word from one of our volunteers!

I started volunteering at ‘As You Are’ as I wanted to gain an insight into working behind the scenes of a counselling service. I also wanted to get to know ‘As You Are’ as I was looking for a Clinical practice area, being in the first year of my counselling course at Brighton University. I was offered the role of volunteer receptionist, which was a perfect way to get to know everyone and how the service operates. This role involved booking in clients for assessment, supporting the counsellors, cashing up and answering the phones. This position gave me an opportunity to get to know the counsellors and be involved with the service as a whole. I was also offered to attend weekend training courses which are run by qualified professionals.

I am delighted to be part of such a wonderful assessable service!
